Planning a wedding and trying to figure out what actually matters when choosing from the abundance of Michigan wedding venues out there?

I see you. I’ve stood where you’re standing. And I’m here to help.

As a Michigan wedding photographer and former bride myself, I’ve walked through more venues than I can count — estates, ballrooms, and beautiful greenhouses alike. But the ones that truly stand out are the ones that create ease, photograph beautifully in every season, and hold more than enough space for the moments you’ll want to remember most.

This guide isn’t just a list to me. It’s a carefully curated collection of unique Michigan wedding venues that offer beauty and heart. Some are perfect for intimate ceremonies, others are built for full wedding weekends, and all are venues I’d recommend over and over again.

Lakeshore, Michigan Wedding Venues

Felt Mansion in Holland, MI

Felt Mansion doesn’t feel like it belongs in Michigan. Tucked close to Lakeshore, this Michigan wedding venue is a hidden gem with big estate energy. But the real magic is in the details you almost miss. The light that pours through the getting-ready rooms. The classic decor. The way your guests can actually wander through the mansion and feel part of something timeless.

And then you step into the ceremony space by the water garden, and it’s like the whole day exhales. As a photographer, I love venues that don’t ask for much but still offer choice. And Felt Mansion lets you keep things super simple or lean full luxe. It’s one of those rare spaces where every corner is photogenic, every moment feels elevated, and yet, it’s still warm and easy.

I’d go back in a heartbeat. (No, seriously. Someone take me back, please.)

Ivy House in Saugatuck, MI

This venue is a beautiful greenhouse-style setting where every wedding looks different depending on how you style it, but is always ALWAYS beautiful. You can dress it up, keep it simple or go full-scale garden party with a modern edge. And the best part? If you want beach portraits, there’s a cute little beach town just 10 minutes away (and yes, we can absolutely go there).

Saugatuck has ‘weekend wedding’ written all over it… kind of perfect for a heartfelt retreat with your people, where the day slows down and the quiet family moments become part of your legacy, if you ask me. And as someone who knows the weight of those memories… I’ll be ready to catch them all.

Etre Farms in St Joseph, MI

Être Farms is an extremely elevated barn — soaring ceilings, intentional architecture, and luxurious simplicity that doesn’t scream for attention. It holds it. I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to take a bad photo here (and I don’t say that lightly). If you want your day to feel high-end but still warm, it’s got to be here. I’ll meet you there with camera in hand.

Mid-Michigan Wedding Venues

Greencrest Manor in Battle Creek, MI

Greencrest Manor is incredible. A little taste of Europe right here in Michigan (and literally 30 minutes away from me… just so you know). The gardens are immaculate, the manor is jaw-dropping, and the ceremony setup is breathtaking. And if you’re planning a full weekend wedding at one of these Michigan wedding venue, this place has the hospitality to do it all. The welcome party, your wedding day, the farewell brunch — everything. You’re in the absolute best hands with Jenn and her team when it comes to your wedding weekend at Greencrest Manor.

Trust me when I say: this is hands down my favorite venue in Michigan. (Okay, I know I said that about a couple others, but Greencrest Manor takes the cake.)

Hidden Grove Estate in Williamston, MI

Hidden Grove Estate is new to the wedding scene and jaw-droppingly, breathtakingly stunning. It’s like a bed-and-breakfast type vibe but modern and chic at the same time. Stepping inside is like stepping into Architectural Digest. The black and white tiles, the meticulously curated vignettes, the plush furnishings… And can we have a moment for the getting-ready suites? The guys even get their own lounge set up with a pool table and golf simulator. There are eight guest suites on site, too, so your wedding party or family can stay right there with you—which, let’s be honest, makes everything feel that much more meaningful and will create some of the best memories for your wedding weekend.

Glass House Community in Grand Rapids, MI

One for my cozy, intimate wedding lovers (myself included). If your dream wedding prioritizes a small guest list, deep conversation, and calm over spectacle— Glass House is for you. It’s built for 50 guests max, and every inch of the space invites closeness. You won’t need to over-style it either. The layout is thoughtful, the natural light is soft and even, and every glass panel feels fit to frame the moments that matter.

Venue3Two in Grand Rapids, MI

If you love the estate feel of Felt Mansion but want something with a more modern edge, Venue3Two is your venue. Every angle, every backdrop, every carefully considered corner, was made to photograph well.

You can go full regal and say your vows with the estate behind you, or embrace nature with a canopy of trees as your backdrop. Either way, the setting feels grounded, peaceful, and present in a way I really love. One look, and you can’t help but imagine what laughter would sound like echoing through the trees, how the golden hour would fall across the lawn during cocktail hour, and where your grandma would sit and smile, watching you twirl.

City Flats Hotel in Grand Rapids, MI

If you’re inspired by fashion and architecture the way I am, City Flats will speak to you the second you walk in. The walnut woodwork, the high arches, the way light dances off the warm tones… there’s a flow to the space that makes portraits feel effortlessly editorial, an Italian Vogue wedding spread in the making.

The High Five in Grand Rapids, MI

The High Five has the classic Michigan industrial vibe down, but what makes it stand out to me is how beautifully it transforms. The New Year’s Eve reception I photographed here is the perfect example: glamourous black and gold tablescapes, elegant white florals, and string lighting that makes you want to slow down and soak in your favorite people (which I absolutely did…). You don’t always need interiors that shout to be memorable. It’s the way it holds your loved ones that leaves the biggest impression.

Unique Michigan Wedding Venues in Detroit

War Memorial in Grosse Pointe Farms,  MI

From the awe-inspiring facade to the glass-walled reception space overlooking Lake St. Clair, War Memorial is bold in the best way — refined, architectural, and full of natural light. The gardens are impeccable, the views of the water are even better, and every inch of architecture is built to live on forever.

And if you’re dreaming up bold florals or rich color palettes, this space is your permission slip! As your photographer, my approach is to stay as true to life as possible. I know you chose your colors for a reason and so your blues will stay blue, your greens will stay green, and your memories will look exactly the way you remember them. Timeless, classic, and true.

This venue is all about legacy, beauty, and intentionality— everything you want your wedding gallery to hold. (Also… the Hamilton car out front? Iconic.)

Planterra Conservatory in West Bloomfield Township, MI

Planterra Conservatory has been high on my wedding venue bucket list for a long time, and I’m super excited to be shooting here in 2026! Give me nature, and I’m in my element. Give me an upscale glass-enclosed botanical garden that feels intimate and editorial, and I come alive. Twinkle lights above, greenery all around, candlelight flickering against the glass. What I love most, though? Planterra Conservatory’s heart for service. Every detail, every floral installation, and every guest is treated with care. And Lord knows that kind of peace makes all the difference for capturing those little family moments I’m always watching for.

The Book Tower in Detroit, MI

The Conservatory alone is enough to stop you in your tracks, but when you step onto the rooftop for cocktail hour and see the skyline stretch around you, everything just clicks into place.

The Book Tower puts you in reach of every surrounding photo spot — Belle Isle, the DIA, even those tucked-away downtown side streets only local photographers know to seek out… And, if you’re dreaming of a mocha-toned wedding that defies trends, me and The Book Tower have you wayyyy covered, right here.

The Atrium at St. John’s Resort in Plymouth, MI

If you’re looking for a unique reception location like no other, make sure you check out the Atrium at Saint John’s Resort. I never take my job for granted, but between the Parisian lamp posts and the sun-drenched glass ceilings, I feel especially blessed to be entrusted with weddings here. It’s also a resort, so you can actually book a weekend wedding that lets you pause and be fully present. The Chapel here, too, is one of the few where your guests face the aisle rather than the altar — so every emotion, every entrance, every tear is mirrored.

Shepherd’s Hollow in Clarkston, MI

Stunning glass walls, the black and white floors, towering pine trees, and the dreamiest fountain-side ceremony site… Shepherd’s Hollow is high on my “must-shoot” list of Michigan wedding venues in Detroit. Even the way the trees line the path. It has this quiet stillness, like the sole purpose of these grounds is to hold something sacred.

Wellers Carriage House in Saline, MI

The ceremony aisle at Wellers Carriage House is long… like, cinematically long. I love its potential for stretching out the moment you walk arm in arm with your dad, feeling the quiet as you reach your person. That slow build of anticipation— the expectation folded into the silence— is so precious. And unforgettable. I don’t need to be a former bride to know how much it means for you to soak that moment in… but I am, and I want that for all my couples.

Shinola Hotel in Detroit, MI

Shinola Hotel is another one of those Michigan wedding venues-musts for the intimate wedding lovers. (A moment for the The Birdy Room please.) If you don’t know already, I love a good black and white stylistic flourish but I also appreciate when couples break tradition and lean into the bold. If it fits who you are as a couple, I’m right there beside you, honoring every hue you’ve chosen so intentionally.

Meadow Brook Hall in Rochester, MI

Meadow Brook Hall looks like it has been pulled from a different era. Regal and romantic immediately come to mind. Its ornate interiors, that historic estate charm, and gardens that look like they’ve hosted centuries of celebrations. You just know every wedding portrait is going to age so gracefully… if at all (always the intention). Now this is a venue to remove the distractions and lean into those black and white portraits.

Northern Michigan Wedding Venues

Bay View at Gallagher Farms in Traverse City, MI

I know I’ve said it a lot, but this wedding venue is stunning, with Bay View stretching out far beyond anything I imagined.

The Overlook with Grand Traverse Bay glimmering in the background is a personal favorite. And then there’s the second ceremony site tucked back in the trees where my couple exchanged vows. It’s a rare choice, but with the way the light filters through the leaves, it feels like the only choice. And Rose, the owner? Her presence sets the tone for the entire experience. Helpful, intentional, and so welcoming. When the person running the space shows up with that kind of heart, everything else falls into place.

Hotel Walloon in Walloon Lake, MI

Hotel Walloon is like a weekend getaway that just so happens to include saying, “I do.” It has this cute little getaway hotel vibe with beach town wedding energy layered in. Every part of it invites something a little different. You’ve got Village Green Park right by the dock, the historic Talcott with its outdoor glass firepit and high lattice ceilings, and the moody interiors of the Walloon Lake Inn. Each space feels like somewhere your people can gather close and stay awhile, where your grandparents can linger by the water and your nieces and nephews can chase barefoot on the lawn. That’s where the candid wedding photos are waiting to be made.

Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls, MI

I actually grew up skiing at Boyne Mountain Resort, so this one is extra sentimental for me. But beyond the threads of nostalgia, this Michigan wedding venue is every bit as beautiful as I remember. Boyne is like a little German village in the North of Michigan, and in the summer, the ivy and greenery take over. There’s so much to do on-site (and so much you can do with the site) that it’s a must for a weekend wedding retreat.

Bay Harbor in Bay Harbor, MI

You’ve got options here: the Marina Lawn with boats docked just beyond your ceremony, Sunset Beach right on the shores of Lake Michigan, and the Observation Lookout. There’s a sense of spaciousness and ease across each location. This is a venue where you can opt to dress it down and still carry the luxe wedding label effortlessly.

Sleeping Bear Dunes in Glen Arbor, MI

If you’re thinking of something deeply personal and a little non-traditional, Sleeping Bear Dunes could be the one. I photographed a small intimate wedding here, and it was so precious. Having the vastness of Lake Michigan in the background against the intimacy of a small ceremony where sand dunes, Marram grass, and a small white rug are your only decor grounds you back to what really matters. Stillness, sacredness, and promise… without distraction.

Aurora Cellars in Lake Leelanau, MI

Any winery in Michigan is going to be beautiful, but Aurora Cellars is a tucked-away gem where the ceremony site does it all for you. A majestic willow tree as the backdrop for honoring the legacy that lies before you? For your loved ones, it’s a scene they will never forget.

Then you’ve got the vineyard running along the entire length of the venue, with a willow waiting just beyond it. I can practically see the golden hour portraits already!

The Inn at Stonecliffe on Mackinac Island, MI

This place just reopened after a remodel, and I’ve already fallen in love with it. I mean, a good open-air reception? Count me in. And being on Mackinac Island means your guests have to travel in, which only adds to the sense of adventure. From the moment they arrive, they’re already wholeheartedly in it with you— not strictly as guests but as part of your story.

The Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, MI

When people think of Mackinac Island, they think of the Grand Hotel and its iconic porch. The name really does say it all— the storybook architecture, carriage rides, and the Straits of Mackinac views are nothing short of grand. You’ll definitely want to lean into the bows, champagne, and timeless details. But what really gets me is the promise of capturing slow dances in the ballroom, the island breeze catching your veil as the sun dips low. Maybe even a first look on the west front porch. Here, the possibilities feel endless, and every one of them deserves to be preserved.

Mission Point Resort on Mackinac Island, MI

There’s a kind of peace in being surrounded by the water — steady, grounding, and familiar. Here at Mission Point Resort, that peace wraps around the whole day. From the ceremony lawn, you can see the Mackinac Bridge stretch in the distance while your guests settle into the rhythm of island time. It’s sweet, simple, and sentimental in all the right ways.

Lake Bluff Preserve in Frankfort, MI

One of the best things about Michigan weddings? The landscape does half of the work for you. And taking advantage of the water is almost an unwritten rule. Set high above Lake Michigan, Lake Bluff Preserve gives you just what you need: sand dunes, weaving trails, and blue hues from shoreline to skyline. This is why I will always hold a huge space in my heart for Michigan wedding venues… every single one holds space for something big.

Your venue shapes your entire day— both the pace of it and the way your people feel held and welcomed within it. The right setting becomes part of your story. I hope this extensive guide of Michigan wedding venues helps you see what’s possible.
