Kelsey and Mike had the most beautiful and elegant fall wedding at this stunning South Haven wedding venue The Black River Barn! It was the most perfect fall day here in Michigan, and mother nature cooperated with us! A comfortable and elegant venue, The Black River Barn offers a scenic backdrop of 10 acres in South Haven, just minutes from Lake Michigan. Kelsey and Mike actually had their ceremony at St. Basil Church and had their reception at Black River Barn, which is right down the road from each other.
I loved the elegant and classic black and white vibe that they went with for their wedding day. They brought in a touch of romance through the pale pink flowers, and Black River Barn was the most perfect venue to bring their wedding vision to life! Kelsey and Mike had an earlier wedding and a delayed cocktail hour. This allowed us to get all their photos done, the boys could watch some football (it was the U of M vs. OSU game), and Kelsey and Mike could
enjoy cocktail hour with their guests!
Kelsey & Mike’s Love Story
Originally from Columbus, OH, Kelsey and Mike met on Bumble in the Spring of 2019. They had their first date at a brewery and hit it off! They had such a great summer dating and getting to know each other. Mike and Kelsey even traveled to Portugal and Spain together with Kelsey’s friends! A job opportunity in Boston opened up later that fall. Dating long-distance was difficult, but they made it fun when they were together. It truly strengthened their bond. In March 2020, Mike had planned a trip to Iceland for them. Sadly, those plans got canceled and he drove back to Ohio. Instead of a week’s staycation, he moved back to Ohio with Kelsey. It was a bonding experience living together in a 1000-foot condo, and they wouldn’t have had it any other way!
In August 2021 after a night out to dinner with friends, Mike suggested an evening walk through the park nearby. They had one of their early dates in this park watching Romeo & Juliet by the local Shakespeare in the Park troupe and spent much of 2020 walking around the park just to get out of the house. He popped the question right in the center of the Shakespeare in the Park stage. In the midst of engagement and wedding planning, Kelsey started a new job in January 2022 and they packed up and left Ohio. After spending a few cold early spring months in South Haven, they crossed the state and bought their first house together in May of 2022 in Royal Oak, MI, and the rest is history!
